April 14 we welcomed our friends from Family Compass to help us kick off child abuse prevention month. Ona Foster and Amy McShane updated the club on their programs and their efforts to make brighter tomorrows for the children of Dallas and Collin counties. The first annual ECLH mixed doubles tennis tournament was held Saturday, April 8th, at the Dallas Athletic Club. Member Tony Divenuti reports that fun was had by participants and spectators alike. Make plans to join in on the fun next year. Special thanks goes out to Tony and his wife, Amy Shepardson, for organizing the tournament.
Friday, Feb. 3, we welcomed RISD school board and club member Justin Bono to update the club on the latest RISD developments. On November 7, we partnered with Grub Burger Bar for a Give Back Event. 20% of the profits for the day will be donated back to the club. Thank you to Todd Overstreet for putting together another great way to support our club.
November 4th, 2016. For our One Nation Under God program, we welcomed Army Brigadier General (retired) Tom Kula. Also part of the program, we had Boy Scout Troop 890 present and retrieve the colors and the LHHS Espree Choir join us for a musical presentation. We thank all of them for their contributions to that program.
Thanks to Todd Overstreet for organizing the Oak Highlands Give Back event on Saturday october 22 benefiting the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands. It was a great day of weather, friends, family, food and football. We thank Oak Highlands Brewery for their sponsorship and support.
Past President Greg Duval, Karen Brown, Gale Lewis, and Ric Moseley participated in a local Stop Hunger Now Event in which they helped pack 34,000 meals on Saturday, October 22. Stop Hunger Now’s mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. We thank them and other members that took time on Saturday to represent our Club and perform good works on our National Exchange Day of Service.
October 21, we welcomed Billy Hines, General Manager of Northpark Center. We thank Billy for his time and presentation to the club.
