The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands presented monthly awards to three Lake HighlandsHigh School students on February 12th.
ECLH Vice President—Youth, Chris Brown, presented Character Counts awards for February to Christian Edwards and Tatyana Johnigan.
Christian is the son of David and Andrea Edwards. He is a member of the Young Republicans and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A member of Watermark Community Church, he is active in the youth ministry, Young Life, and Wyldlife. In his free time, Christian enjoys rock climbing, sand volleyball, and tennis. He plans to attend Colorado Christian University in the fall to study business.
Tatyana is the daughter of Melvin and Loretta Johnigan. She is an honor student and a member of the Feminist Club and the Young Democrats Club. In addition to her course work at LHHS, Tatyana serves as an intern in the Pulmonary Unit at Presbyterian Hospital. She enjoys writing fiction in her “free time” and plans to study biology/pre-med in college.
The Youth of the Month award was presented to Emily Moise.
Emily is the daughter of Tim and Lisa Moise. She is an honor student ranked in the top-10 of her class. A member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, she enjoys playing the bassoon in the LHHS Band and Wind Ensemble and is a varsity member of the LHHS Volleyball team. She is planning to attend Tufts University in the fall to study electrical engineering and music.
Each of the above received a plaque and a gift of North Park Gold. The club also heard letters from teachers about the Character Counts recipients, and the Youth of the Month recipient read her essay on “Responsible Citizenship” and will be eligible for consideration for the Youth of the Year, Exchange District Youth, and National Exchange Club Youth of the Year awards.
Over the past 20 years the Exchange Club has presented Character Counts, Youth of the Month, and scholarship awards to over 1,000 Lake Highlands High School students.
