On October 19th, the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands had the honor of hosting a candidate forum for Texas State House District 114, between Republican candidate Lisa Luby Ryan and Democrat candidate John Turner. Both are members of this club. By design, we flew through the administrative portion of the meeting to guarantee as much time as possible for the candidates. Club member Larry Patterson did an exceptional job moderating the event and he and our VP of Programs, Chris Brown, did an excellent job at selecting great questions sent in by club members. We had a full house of approximately 100 people, including other elected officials, staff and even families of the candidates.
As club leadership, we strive to deliver our membership connectivity to our elected officials and this meeting supported that effort. To our two club member candidates; we wish you luck with both the waning weeks of campaigns and election day. Only one can win, but we hope that no matter the winner, as club members, you will work together to bridge local divides and represent Lake Highlands in the positive manner we all expect. A great meeting, indeed.
